#859 God’s Response to Spiritual Concerns – Questioning Our Spiritual Gift(s), continued

Good Day Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

Some of us have had the unpleasant experience of a physical ailment or injury in which we lose the function of one of our limbs, an eye, the back, or even an internal organ such as a kidney.  These types of injuries are difficult to handle as they limit the extent in which we can function.  We need all the members of our body working together and doing the job they are supposed to do in order for our body to be in tip-top shape.  It is the same with the body of Christ:  all members need to exercise their own unique spiritual gift given to them by God for the church to function as God would have it.  A church that has members with the exact gift cannot function properly, and a church that has members refusing to use their gift for the church and the Lord will have a difficult time fulfilling their mission for the Lord.  Though we sometimes feel that our gift is not important, Christ has designed His church in a manner where all of our gifts are required.  We need to make sure we are utilizing our gift in a manner pleasing to the Lord.

Examine your church to see if you and the other members are exercising their spiritual gift(s); if not, pray that each of you will be convicted by the Holy Spirit to do so!

“For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office:  So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another.”   (Romans 12:4-5)

May God Richly Bless You Today

#685 Intercessory Prayer – Prayers for Healing

Good Day Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

God is the Great Physician, the Great Healer, One we can call upon in times of distress and illness, both physical and emotional.  We recall how God took care of Elijah when he had the great victory over the priests of Baal.  Under the threats of Jezebel, he fled down Mount Carmel and hid, physically and emotionally exhausted, afraid, and depressed.  It was God’s compassionate care of Elijah that brought him back from the brink of defeat, and it started with healing and strengthening his body.[1]  So it is with us today:  we often push ourselves in our daily lives, including our work for the Lord, resulting in our becoming physically exhausted and ill.  Knowing that God still has ministry for us to do and can heal us is a call for each of us to pray for the healing of those around us who are in those circumstances.  Intercessory prayer is a ministry every Christian can and should perform, calling on the One who loves and cares for His disciples.  As we begin a new year, let us faithfully begin, expand, or strengthen our ministry of intercessory prayer.

Do you know someone who is suffering, whether physically or emotionally?  If so, pray for the Great Physician’s healing of body and mind!

“And the angel of the LORD came again the second time, and touched him, and said, ‘Arise and eat; because the journey is too great for thee.’  And he arose, and did eat and drink, and went in the strength of that meat forty days and forty nights unto Horeb the mount of God.”  (I Kings 19:7-8)
